Short Relief

Finally… some relief. Taxes are done and off in the mail. Joy is out working in the field, and I just got home after driving Joy to Ocala to pick up her car from the Auto Body experts and depositing a check into my account. That check will allow us to finally pay back my parents.

Pizza, Poker, and Painting

Today we had our Pizza, Poker, and Painting party. It wasn’t all that much of a party, if you ask me. Also, the party morphed into pizza, pastries, and painting pretty quickly. Almost everyone (including me) left before we could get into a game of poker. However, Lana did end up going to a poker tournament later that night. She place 6th in her very first poker tourney. I am super proud of her.

Oh, we also finished painting our entire house.

Busy Busy February

I have been very busy these last few weeks, but things are just starting to settle down into something of a groove. I got a call from my college roommate a few days ago, and we hadn’t talked since Christmas time. He asked me how I was doing, what’s going on, the usual…

This time I actually had a lot to say.

Job Search

I don’t know if/when I will get the financing I need to buy my francise and start working on that, so I’ve spent a good deal of time during the last two weeks looking for jobs. So far I have used Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, and looked in our local student newspaper.

Ogame

Conor via Nate got me sucked into a new text based MMO Strategy game called Ogame. It’s kind of engaging, but at the same time it could be sort of boring. I’ve been playing it for a few weeks now, and I am still not sure. I like it because some of my friends are into it and it gives me another reason to stay in touch. Also, I don’t really have time to watch movies much any more, and I only have time to watch TV on DVD maybe once a week… so I’ve been playing Ogame instead. Cumulatively, it has probably taken up more time than other video games, movies, TV, etc, but it works out well, because I can only play it for a few minutes at a time. So I basically use it to punctuate my studies and other random tasks like laundry, errands, and cooking.

Joy’s Off to Wisconsin

Finally, I have a spare moment to write something for the blog. I have been so busy and I have so many things to write about in the upcoming week that the task is kind of intimidating me. I’m not sure if backlogged blogging is something I should even get into.

Today — Joy and I went to bed at 2AM last night after a frantic night of studying, packing, rearranging the apartment, and so on. Then we woke up at 6AM to whisk Joy off to the airport. That took much less time than we had anticipated.

Back in the Game

After a four to five month hiatus from being involved with the stock market I have gotten back into it. I went ahead and put money into Starbucks, which was something I was wanting to do at the beginning of February… I just hadn’t gotten around to it. Today is looking pretty good so far, it is already up 2%.

One thing that I am having a hard time with is deciding to put a stop order in place at 98% of my purchase price so that I can sell if I lose 2% in my position OR if I should put a limit order in place to sell if the stock price goes above 110% of the purchase price. This month I am going with the stop order… if I make over 10%, but it doesn’t last long enough for me to notice and sell then that’s just tough luck I guess.

Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta

It’s Labor Day! I’ve been here in Atlanta all weekend avoiding Hurricane Frances and attending the Mueller’s get together / first annual corporate board meeting. I just realized that I haven’t blogged at all this whole weekend so I thought it would be a good time to update the site with all that has happened so far.
