Saint Augustine, Florida

Joy and I drove to St. Augustine twice this weekend. We drove there and back once and stayed over night once for a three day symposium that my future franchisor was holding in St. Augustine.

Switching Servers. Beginning iCal

My blog is now being hosted on a new server. I don’t really know what this will mean in the short run, but it should be an improvement for me in the long run. I am even considering posting pictures soon. I don’t know if they will be attached to the blog or if I will set up a different site just for our pictures. I don’t really tell me family about my blog, but I’d want them to see my pictures so another site sounds like a good idea to me.

MiniMac

I finally got my miniMac up and running tonight. It was harder than I expected, because I didn’t have a USB keyboard on hand, and no one else I knew seemed to either. I didn’t realize that PS/2 keyboards were so common still.

So, anyway, this is my first entry written on a mac. woohoo!

Joy got Bluetooth

This is old news, but I’ve been wanting to write about it for a long time too. Joy got a new job, and with that job came a company cell phone. So, Joy worked something out with her comapny to get an upgraded phone somehow, and her new phone has Bluetooth.

Body by… Playstation?

I just caught wind of this “great new product” — The EyeToy Kinetic for Sony’s Playstation 2 which was developed in association with Nike Motionworks. I can’t decide if this is a really great idea or just another fresh serving of unsellable ideas.

What do you think of it?

Walk-In Volunteerism

I have been wanting to find some sort of community service activity to do with my wife and her roommate, Jessica (since I figured she’d like the idea,) for the past month. Each week I look online and search their area for some sort of community service that we could participate in for a few hours or even on both days. I haven’t had much luck.

New Site: In the Works

The new site now has a name, a domain name, a server, and three administrators who are working diligently (OK, two of them are… I just say unproductive things and try to distract them from their goals) on bringing this site into fruition.

The new site’s name is Think Out Loud. It’s domain is http://www.thinkoutloud.org. Nate, Conor, and I are the site administrators.

This means that I have a new e-mail address. It’s just my first name at the site .org.

Steven’s Wedding

This weekend Joy and I drove back to Fort Myers for my brother’s wedding. It was held on Saturday, May 28th at 6:00PM. It was a pretty interesting affair, because it was held in a Greek Orthodox church in Naples.

Rent? Own?

I have been thinking about whether Joy and I should rent an apartment or buy a home for the time we will be living in Orlando. I know that we’d both be really excited about owning a home, but we’d need to make sure that it makes good financial sense to do so. I have been wanting some information on how to calculate the differences between buying a house and renting an apartment. I learned all of this over a year ago in my Real Estate class, but I lost the fancy calculator we had then, and I’ve forgotten most of the formulas.
This is where this cool website comes into the picture. They have a really cool library of information available to everyone, and I didn’t even need to sign up for anything. It had a calculator and after some reading I remembered a number of the formulas I had learned. I’m now so happy I wanted to tell someone!
