I got to thinking about communism and Marxist thought today, and I had this realization that perhaps much of what Marx wanted when he wrote The Communist Manifesto is already existant today in America or within our grasp.

I am always interested in tangential parts of history. I would have loved to get a PhD in history by studying business history. I am fascinated with all aspects of business, and I think that a history of business or even businesses in america would be fascinating and point to the rest of american history in the process (as business interests often overlap with political interests and decision making.)
In the extended entry I copied parts of an article I found in Slate. I copied part of it even though it is probably copywritten because I do not know how to refer people to it after it is moved around in msn’s webspace. Slate, please forgive me. I was just reading a blog that recently dipped into politics and felt the urge to write about it. The quote that got me started was actually from a comment. Here it is…
“Unfortunately, the left paints corporations and wealthy Americans as “evil” because they “have more” and paint the picture that corporations are unfairly profiting off the backs of the unfortunate American worker toiling away for less than the Mendoza line in minumum wage.”

I am taking ANT2301: Human Sexuality this semester, and I am learning a great deal about sexuality from an Anthropological, Evolutionary, Cross-Cultural perspective grounded in scientific research conducted via sampling, interviews, surveys, observation, field-work, experimentation, case studies, and laboratory research. (What a mouthful!)
This is all very fascinating to me, especially now as I am working on writing a paper for the class. So it gets me thinking about things that are kind of off-topic and sometimes critical of the perspectives used in the book and in the class.
One conclusion that occurred to me just now is that these Anthropologists would likely OK something such as file-sharing along all the same grounds that they OK homosexuality.
