Teaching Sunday School?

This past Sunday I sat in a High School Sunday school class with Dr. Steven Meyer, Nate’s Dad. I am sitting in on two of his classes to see how he teaches his group of kids. After two weeks of watching I will be presenting something for them.

It was pretty interesting to go and watch this. I haven’t been around High School students in a long time. They are very similar to what I remember High School being like, but at the same time it felt really foreign to be with them.

Identifying My Idols

I have been doing a lot of reading lately for school, and I keep coming across this main issue of idolatry. I’ve had it defined, redefined, explained and Biblically referenced for me over and over again, and somethings have finally clicked with me.

I have idols in my life. We all do. Idols are the things that we worship or love instead of God. They bring us pleasure, but also pain when we are kept from having them. They are motivating forces in our lives that often get us to act the way God would have us act, but more often they motivate us to do things that we’d rather not do and things that are against God.

Women and sexuality in general.
Approval and Respect
Money/Security/Financial Growth
Video Games/Movies/Entertainment Media
Astrology
Relationships

PHP Madness

I didn’t get all that much done today, but I did learn a lot along the way. I really want to improve the format of this weblog to make it more interesting, but to do that I feel that I need to learn a lot more HTML and PHP. So, that is pretty much what I have been doing for the last five hours, with a lot of breaks thrown in.
Tomorrow the plan is to go to the library and study Chemistry as much as I can stand and then to study Chemistry after I can’t stand it anymore. Hopefully, I learn enough to get 150 of the 193 points available on this exam.
