Lingerie

I now have a new appreciation for the beauty of lingerie showers. I had thought they were cool from the first time I heard the idea; I liked them even more when Joy opened up this bag full of sexy little nothings; and I was sure there was genius in the world when she tried them all on and so on and so on…

It wasn’t until recently that I’ve learned the true genius behind this sort of shower.

Team of One

We were all born with a team of one to lead. This team is our proving ground. The better we manage and lead this ‘team of one’ the more likely it is that people will want to join the team and be a part of the vision.

Poverty

I have been spending a good deal of my summer selling books in an area of the US that is actually at poverty-level and below. I’m no longer in that area, but I have worked in an area very similar to it today.

I talk to most of these people. In the process I learn about who they are, because I ask them lots of questions. I am generally curious, but I am especially curious about why these people are living in these conditions. I have heard people say that poverty is caused by the wealthy people of the world. I refuse to believe this now that I’ve talked to all these people.

Basically Pleasure Seeking

In the past few months I’ve heard some things that have got me to thinking once again about whether people are basically good or basically evil. I’ve decided that this one really needs to be played out outside of the box.
I think that good and evil is real, but I think that they are judgements on a behavior/incident not an inherent attribute — per sé.

Racist or ‘Culturist’?

For most of my life I’ve been inundated with information about (and almost entirely against) racism. I lived in an area of Florida that was at one time during my life the most segregated city in the US, but I still knew people from many different races and backgrounds through school and sports.
Knowing people from almost every background, traveling the world, and still receiving a litany of anti-racism information (from schools, media, church, and individuals) would always get me to thinking and worrying about racism and prejudice.

Raccoon

Last night I saw a raccoon as I was driving home from Joy’s apartment-style dorm. Tonight I was driving to pick her up from studying, and I saw a roadkcoon on the same short stretch of road. It had only been hit once the first time I saw it, and I got a pretty good look at it, because it was close to this stop sign on University AVE.
I couldn’t help thinking, ‘Dead looks so weird.’ There was a cute and ugly all at the same time raccoon just last night, and here, in complete contrast is this uncomfortable looking dead one.
The whole concpet of dead is so weird. It’s different than just still — like in a picture. It’s haunting. So, I’m blogging.

Nice…

I love being nice. It’s so rewarding in so many small ways. It’s especially fun to be nice and have it suprise people. It seems to me that people have come to expect teenagers to be lots of things, but nice, polite, graceful, charming, etc are usually not among those things. So, when I can do little things to make people happy in a way that catches them off gaurd I am really pleased too.
Today I woke up at 7:20 -something in the morning, I have a bit of a headache and I am tired, but I am in a really great mood, because I have already managed to make both my parents, my girlfriend, and over half a dozen people at Publix — including a cashier who didn’t seem too happy — happier!
As Joy said, “You’re on a roll this morning.” I really am… so I am going to get back to that now.

Sleep Deprivation and Longing

Over the past year or more I’ve noticed that when I am suffering from mild to severe sleep deprivation I become prurient and long for physical attentions with strong emotional undertones. Basically, when I’m drowsy I’m roused and wanting affections of the emotional and intimate sort.

Anti-media rant featuring Keyshawn Johnson

I have much animosity towards periodic, mainstream media, which should probably extend logically to the consumers of “the media” as they drive the demand which drives the media to do nearly all of the things that they do that causes me to dislike it so much.
I mention this, because I was watching an interview of Keyshawn Johnson by Dan Patrick on ESPN Motion. In the interview several issues *plaguing* the media came up.

Women + Phones

I have no tested, scientific evidence just yet for my observation here, but I’ve noticed that women seem to talk much louder then men when they use the phone.
Actually, it goes beyond just talking louder than men. I think that some women talk much louder than they would in a normal, face-to-face conversation whenever they are on the phone… any phone. This applies to phones with perfect reception where the speaker can hear everything clearly, cell phones with poor reception, portable phones, etc.
I’d like to have more evidence about this issue — either side of it — even if the evidence is just anecdotal.
Also, if this observation pans out, I’d like to know what causes this. Is it a habit? Some sort of female compulsion? or is it based on some thougt that I don’t understand?
