Revolution gets a Chance

There is a buzz now that Sony’s PS3 will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 - $800 dollars when it debuts. The XBox 360 is still not available in sufficient enough quantities for retailers to guarantee that it will be in stock. In fact, most retailers do not advertise the XBox 360 at all outside of their stores.

With a proposed price for the Nintendo Revolution at around $200 per console and an initial shipment in high enough numbers to meet demand, Nintendo could easily make a big impact on this generation of console gaming. I hope it does.

RebelStar: Tactical Command

Joy got me RebelStar: Tactical Command for Christmas this year, and it just came in the mail today. I’ve played through most of the introduction so far, and I like the game a lot. What attracted me to the game in the first place was how similar it was to a game that I had seen many times and always wanted to play, but never got the chance to play. Now I feel like I am finally getting that chance, and it makes the whole thing all that much better. So far the only disappointment that I have with the game is that it’s 2 player mode isn’t what I was expecting. Basically, you have to pass the GBA back and forth between the two players instead of playing somewhat simultaneously. I still want to try it out at some point though.

Body by… Playstation?

I just caught wind of this “great new product” — The EyeToy Kinetic for Sony’s Playstation 2 which was developed in association with Nike Motionworks. I can’t decide if this is a really great idea or just another fresh serving of unsellable ideas.

What do you think of it?

Lego Star Wars

Last night Mike and I went to Blockbuster to find a fun game to play while we hung out for a while. I told Mike that it could be his choice, but if he couldn’t make up his mind we should rent NCAA Football 2006 because we were going to watch the Gator game at 8:00, and it might be fun to pregame by playing head to head Tennessee vs Florida.

He chose Lego Star Wars for the XBOX because he wanted to see what it was about and see if it was any good.

Gemfire

I have been searching for a copy of this game that I used to play when I was a kid. I remember playing it with my friends, but I never owned and still do not have a copy. I found one on Ebay yesterday that was in near mint condition with all the instructions, inserts, etc in the original box. (Yeah, it’s sad but that is important to me.)

Anyway, I want to get a SNES version of the game, but I don’t want to pay too much for it because it is so old. I could get a copy on Amazon.com for $40, but I am in no hurry. I’ve waited over a decade after all. Plus, my SNES is in Gainesville in Jenn and Lana’s apartment (-style dorm.)

I told them I’d get them a SNES if they helped me win an XBOX. They did, I did, so they have my SNES… (I’m secretly hoping that they give it back at the end of their degree programs, due to the fact that there are more than one of them and only one SNES.)

Fable

Last Thursday I rented Fable for XBOX, and I have been playing it off and on for the last few days. It is an interesting game made by the EA subsidiary that put Black and White together. In the game you run around as this little adventurer guy doing different deeds throughout the guy’s country, which reminds me of the British Isles in a way.

The interesting part of the game is that you run around doing deeds, but you can do good deeds or evil deeds and still progress through the game.

Halo 2

Well, tomorrow is a big day. Halo 2 is coming out. I have a copy reserved in my name at the GameStop next to my Panera. I am not “hard core” enough to stay out and get the game at midnight, and I am glad, because I gave up that opportunity for more hours at work this week, which will pay for over half of the price of the game anyway. Also, I can now leave work, drop by the GameStop, grb my copy, head to class, and put in a very full day (5:45AM to 4PM — over 9 hours) of work and school. That should make playing H2 feel like a well deserved reward.

To everyone who also had the game pre-ordered or reserved –
Oh wait, all of you will be too busy playing Halo 2 to read this.

Zelda Promotional Disc

I am incredibly happy right now!
–{this rambling was moved to the extended entry and is denoted with an asterik(*)}–
Anyway, to get to the point of the story…
I got the disc! It’s in the system now and should reach me in under two weeks, which is great! All I needed to do was register my Game Cube and two of four “promotional” games — both of which I happened to have received for Christmas this year.

Chess… and more.

It recently occured to me that it doesn’t really matter if someone is good at chess so much as it matters if someone is a good sport when playing chess.
